Ron VanDerMaarel
VDM was founded by Ron in 1990. Prior to this, Ron has spent numerous years in software development as both an in house programmer and employed with a software company developing job cost accounting software for the construction industry. During the early years, he took additional courses at the local college to upgrade his accounting skills, and began the development of the VDM Suite using the Thoroughbred Business Basic language.
While developing the new system, Ron additionally provided custom work to companies that were looking for software designed to meet their specific needs. Over the years, the custom work has grown and proven to be a large part of the business.
Today Ron is still involved heavily with the VDM Suite on the Human Resources/Payroll module to ensure that all government changes are incorporated into the software.

Terry VanDerMaarel
Terry joined VDM in 1994 when there was a need to expand and update the existing VDM Suite. Having an educational background in electronics which required the knowledge of more powerful high level computer languages has been a great asset to the company.
Terry took on the role of developer and support for the VDM Suite and continued to bring the Business Basic version up to date. In 1999, with network computing well on the rise, Terry investigated new technologies for distributing software. This led to a redesign of the VDM suite to be rewritten in Java, linking to a back end database, allowing VDM to run on all major operating systems and a large number of databases.
Terry's ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies is now taking us again to the next version of VDM; with a rich web based application running all within the browser.
